Since 2007, the MTSS Center has been a national leader in supporting states, districts, and schools across the country in implementing an MTSS framework that integrates data and instruction within a multi-level prevention system to maximize student achievement and support students’ social, emotional, and behavior needs from a strengths-based perspective.

Dr. Jason Harlacher takes over as Director of MTSS Center
After 20 years supporting state and local implementation of tiered system of supports, Dr. Tessie Bailey stepped down as the director of the MTSS Center and Dr. Jason Harlacher has taken over as the new Center Director. Dr. Harlacher also serves as the co-director for the Wyoming MTSS Center and provides technical assistant with the National Center on Intensive Intervention. Dr. Harlacher joined the AIR in 2021, having previously worked as a school psychologist, district-level coach, adjunct professor, and state-level technical assistance provider. With AIR, he provides consultation and support to state departments and school districts on MTSS. Dr. Harlacher brings extensive experience in classroom management, data-based decision making, intensive intervention, social and emotional learning, and implementation of MTSS. Dr. Harlacher holds a PhD in school psychology from the University of Oregon. Dr. Bailey will continue to support the center as an advisor.
