Sacha Cartagena

Sacha Cartagena, PhD, provides professional learning and technical assistance for the MTSS Center, as she provides expertise to state departments and districts on MTSS implementation, Universal Design for Learning, and high-leverage practices. Dr. Cartagena is passionate about systems-level change and supporting educators working with diverse students, especially students with disabilities. Dr. Cartagena leads the virtual coaching and professional development for the Alabama High-Leverage Practices Playbook Project, and she coordinates the asynchronous modules for the PROGRESS Center. Previously, Dr. Cartagena was an adjunct instructor, a field-experience coordinator, and a special education teacher of students with significant cognitive disabilities in Title 1 schools. She holds certifications and endorsements in special education, elementary education, reading, and English language learning. She earned her PhD from the University of Central Florida.
