Sarah Benz, PhD, provides technical assistance and professional learning to states and school districts on data-based individualization, special education, significant disproportionality, and MTSS. In addition to her work for the MTSS Center, she provides leadership and technical assistance through the National Center on Intensive Intervention, the National Center on Systemic Improvement, and various Texas state projects. Prior to joining the American Institutes for Research, Dr. Benz supported research projects where she collaborated with multiple elementary schools to implement MTSS for academics, behavior, and social-emotional learning. She also taught middle school special education for over six years and served as a district director of special education. She earned her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin.
