Allison Gruner Gandhi, Ed.D., directs the Special Education Practice Area at AIR. Dr. Gandhi has extensive knowledge about special education policy and practice, especially around identifying and communicating about evidence-based practices to support improved outcomes for students with disabilities. Since 2005, Dr. Gandhi has overseen the development and ongoing maintenance of the National Center on Intensive Intervention tools charts, which review and rate the technical rigor of screening tools, academic and behavioral progress monitoring tools and academic and behavioral interventions. She also provides leadership for a number of MTSS research projects including a large-scale, national IES impact evaluation of MTSS in reading and an IES-funded grant to develop and validate a rubric to measure implementation of integrated MTSS. She previously led the evaluation of Massachusetts’ State Personnel Development Grant.
