Kathleen Pfannenstiel, PhD, provides technical assistance and professional learning to states and school districts with an emphasis on improving student outcomes through MTSS and evidence-based practices. Dr. Pfannenstiel has extensive expertise in math content and best practices for increasing procedural fluency and conceptual understanding, data-based decision making, and tiered interventions, especially in designing and selecting math and behavior interventions. She has over 15 years of experience working with teachers, leaders, and state education agencies to design, implement, and measure MTSS. Previously, Dr. Pfannenstiel was an educational specialist, lecturer, and adjunct professor for undergraduate and graduate classes in special education and taught in public schools in Illinois and Texas at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. She has authored and co-authored numerous articles and book chapters with an emphasis on MTSS and math interventions. Dr. Pfannenstiel earned a doctorate in Special Education from the University of Texas at Austin, with an emphasis on learning disabilities and behavior disorders.
