At Tier 2, schools provide small group, standardized academic, social, emotional, and behavioral supports using validated intervention programs. This infographic highlights 10 essential features of an effective Tier 2 intervention system.

The Taxonomy of Intervention Intensity can be used to select or evaluate an intervention platform used as the validated intervention platform or the foundation of the DBI process. It can also be used to guide the adaptation of intensification of an intervention during the intervention adaptation step of the DBI process.

This log can be used as a daily and weekly record of the implementation of an individual student’s intensive intervention plan and can provide fidelity data used within individual problem solving meetings.

If we don’t implement critical components of an intervention with consistency, we cannot link student outcomes to the instruction provided. Fidelity can help us to determine the effectiveness of an intervention, and identify if a student requires more intensive supports. This resource outlines five elements of fidelity and provides guiding questions for each.

NCII, through a collaboration with the University of Connecticut and the National Center on Leadership in Intensive Intervention and with support from the CEEDAR Center, developed course content focused on enhancing educators’ skills in explicit instruction, intensive mathematics intervention, behavior support and intensive reading intervention.

The National Center on Intensive Intervention (NCII) developed this self-paced module to increase users' knowledge of intensive intervention and data-based individualization (DBI). The module defines intensive intervention and DBI, describes how intensive intervention fits within a tiered system such as MTSS, RTI, or PBIS, demonstrates how intensive intervention can provide a systematic process to deliver specialized instruction for students with disabilities, and includes two case examples to allow viewers to apply new knowledge.

The Behavioral Intervention Tools Chart is comprised of studies conducted on programs beyond the core procedures (e.g., school-wide, basic classroom organization and management) that target small groups or individual students with social, emotional, or behavioral problems whose performance is non-responsive to the core procedures. The chart displays the study’s results and ratings of the study’s quality, information on the program administration, and whether additional research has been conducted on the program.

The Academic Intervention Tools Chart is designed to assist educators and families in becoming informed consumers who can select interventions that best meet their individual needs. The Center's Technical Review Committee (TRC) on Academic Interventions independently established a set of criteria for evaluating the scientific rigor of studies demonstrating the efficacy of instructional intervention programs. The TRC rated each submitted study against these criteria but did not compare it to other studies on the chart.
