Dia Jackson

Dia Jackson, EdD, provides leadership on technical assistance, research, and professional development projects to states and school districts in the areas of MTSS, special education best practices, and equitable practices. Dr. Jackson specializes in equity issues, as she believes culturally-responsive MTSS implementation leads to equitable outcomes for students (read her article, Leveraging MTSS to Ensure Equitable Outcomes). Dr. Jackson also specializes in professional development with educators and leaders on social and emotional learning (SEL), as she developed a toolkit on SEL integration in collaboration with CASEL and CCSSO, titled Integrating Social and Emotional Learning within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports to Advance Equity. Dr. Jackson believes that ensuring all students have high quality differentiated core instruction is critical for building a strong MTSS, which she discusses in her post, How Can Teachers Improve Instruction for Students with Disabilities and for all Students at Tier 1? In additional to providing technical assistance through the MTSS Center, Dr. Jackson also leads the Mid-Atlantic Equity Assistance Center for AIR. Previously, Dr. Jackson has worked as a special education teacher, and she has led RTI/MTSS projects supporting educator and leader implementation fidelity across the country including in the US Virgin Islands, Arkansas, and New York City.  Additionally, Dr. Jackson presents at national conferences and has published resources on effective MTSS implementation, including CEC/CEEDAR’s High-Leverage Practices for Special Educators. Her work in NYC schools is highlighted in this short video. She earned her EdD from George Washington University.
